Process

In my art, process is very important to me, even if it is part of my work, like a long performance.

  • Knitting

In ancient India, there were often ascetic monks with unkempt hair and ragged clothes, carrying a three-pronged staff symbolizing Shiva , chanting ancient scriptures while walking, and sleeping in the jungle . Ascetic monks must endure things that ordinary people consider painful, such as self- punishment , long-term fasting , reducing drinking water, lying on a bed full of nails, walking on hot charcoal, enduring extreme heat and cold, and even eating and drinking to exercise endurance and disengagement.

I like to maintain the same ascetic attitude in the creative process as in the ancient Indian religions, but not to refine my will to go on a pilgrimage, but to be faithful to the process of making a work with my own hands and to feel the gradual nurturing of a work that represents my spirit. Honestly giving my whole body, mind and time to the work.

In this creation, not only is the presentation of the work itself an outward expression of my subconscious, but I am also in dialogue with myself and maintaining my inner peace during the process of creation. At the same time, I am also feeling my relationship with the people around me, feeling each other's breath in the peaceful process of making.

  • Knitting - Making

The process of crocheting the red subject takes a lot of time, but this repetitive action is not boring and meaningless, it gives me inner peace, a quiet feeling of my subconscious and a dialogue with myself. It is like a practice and a pilgrimage, unconsciously manipulating my hands to portray my subconscious self.

In addition, I try to wear them on my body and feel it in relation to  body

  • Fabrication of internal brackets

I used chicken wire  to make the internal support for the main object, but the excess weight of the wool yarn made the wire squeeze out of shape, so I used crossed bamboo to reinforce the inside of the wire.
